Guess what? Summertime is officially in full swing. Honestly, it’s unbelievable how quick the past couple months have flown by amidst the Coronavirus Pandemic. If you’re like me, than you’re so ready to be partaking in outdoor summer photography as a female influencer.
As a way to BLOSSOM confidently into the summer season as female influencer, here are three easy ways you can create summer photography as a female influencer.
Did you know that ONLY an average of 30% of women wear daily moisturizer with SPF? Wow, right? And even less for men (15%), according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The truth is, Ultraviolet rays from the sun do come through, even on days we don’t experience super direct sunlight. Getting in the habit of protecting our skin, even on a more cloudy day, is essential.
As female influencers, capturing content outdoors is (often) a weekly norm. Even during self-quarantine, creative photography captured by a window in the sunlight is a form of sun exposure. So, how can we make skincare regimens a priority as a busy female influencer?
Did you know that 60% of consumers report they feel uninformed about proper skin cleansing methods (prnewswire.com). Luckily, brands like DERMA E make is SO easy to be totally consistent with our skincare and be fully informed. I’ve been using an array of products from DERMA E for the past few weeks. I always like to test products out before ever sharing them with my Chicas. And, I’ve gotta say — I’m so impressed with my DERMA E products!
Vitamin C Peel: The radiance-boosting, non-abrasive blend of Alpha Hydroxy Acids helps to resurface and smooth skin’s texture to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Amazing Benefit: More radiant, smoother skin instantly. And, it smells amazing! Use 1x per week. Morning or evening.
Firming Toner: This firming facial toner helps rebalance the skin’s pH (after cleansing) and prepares it to receive moisture or treatment. Amazing Benefit: Refreshes, tightens, and tones your skin. Use daily. Morning and evening.
Blue Light Shield Concentrated Serum: You will combat environmental aggressors with this highly effective serum. I LOVE this serum! It’s so refreshing! Use daily. Morning and evening.
Blue Light Shield Spray: Maintain optimal balance while reducing the effects of environmental and digital pollution. Use daily. After applying makeup. Or at the end of your morning skincare routine.
Sun Defense Mineral Sunscreen Face: This oil-free, lightweight, non-greasy facial formula delivers broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection and anti-aging antioxidant defense. Amazing Benefit: Healthy SPF that provides anti-aging sun protection. Use daily, when exposed to UV rays.

A great way to capture bold dimensions, total vibrancy, and natural lighting under the summer sun is to face away from the sun. I know, this sounds contradictory. But, light coming from behind you separates yourself from the background in a pleasing way. Having a big open space behind you (as opposed to trees or dark buildings) will help keep your face bright even when you have your back to the sun. Remember to apply a premium sunscreen like DERMA E’s Sun Defense Mineral Sunscreen Face during your photoshoots under the sun. It’s SO important. Your skin will thank you.
Take advantage of the more mild summer season by pulling from the Golden Hour, near sunset. They key to sunset photography is to (first and foremost) BE PATIENT. Grab a tripod if you need to! I’ve shot so many photos (and videos) solely via my tripod. No excuses, Chica! Just DO. And SHOW UP. 🙂
I also recommend you implement the Rule of Thirds. The Rule of Thirds is essentially when you create more balanced and interesting shots. You basically break down an image into thirds (both horizontally and vertically) so that you have 9 parts, total. The hope is that your viewer will naturally go to one of the intersection points and feel more engaged with your summer photography.
Observe the opportunities, colors, and angles all around you. The natural golden hour lighting will make your photography BLOSSOM. Think outside the box and don’t be afraid to reach out in niched Facebook Groups to ask for tips/advice! We are here to LIFT EACH OTHER UP! Always.
